Guild Guidelines
We do not have any kind of rules, but we use a recruitment policy. This is common sense for most mature players, but we still like to display a few so you can understand that we are serious, mature players, who respect other players. Ofcourse anyone not following the guidelines will be dealt with, but even without this people should be following them, simply because it's just common sense.
- Our main language is English, you need to understand it, and be able to speak it.
- No foul language in chats, this means guild chat, global chat and ofcourse on the forums.
- Do not provoke people or be disrespectful in any chat in-game or on forums.
Q : What exactly is the Touch of Darkness? :
A : The Touch of Darkness is a guild made by two Guild Wars lovers, who also happen to be lovers in real life. Veninum Lapidum and Sanguinem Deus, Judit and Ron, decided to create their own guild for their favorite game Guild Wars 2, after having been in several guilds/kins in their other favorite MMO, LOTRO. They were not able to find a suitable guild/kin in LOTRO and decided to create their own guild this time to make sure everything would be organised, unlike in all the other guilds/kins they've been in, in their previous favorite MMO.
Q : What do you do as a guild? :
A : We do plenty of stuff, basically everything that you can find in this game, we do. Crafting, Dungeons, Player versus Player, World vs World, for fun or for loot that we seek, questing, exploring, killing, and so on. Also, we love helping out other members of our guild with their storyline instances. We like to explore any kind of aspect that you can find in this game. The map is big, and there's lots to be found in Tyria. In short, we PvE, PvP, WvW and anything that is related with that.
Q : What is your leading experience? :
A : Ron has always been a leader, in every game he has played. Quake III Arena, Call of Duty 4, LOTRO and now Guild Wars 2. Ron has lead some very successfull clans for both Quake III Arena and Call of Duty 4, and he's also played with some professional players, still active in those games today. We know how to lead a guild, because we know how to respect our members, and we also listen to them, which is the most important aspect of a guild / being in a guild in our opinion. Judit has been an Officer in various games and has some good leading experience aswell. Together Ron and Judit form a great team with some great leadership experience.
Q : Guild background and facts? :
A : We have lead successfull guilds/kins before in LOTRO, so we do have experience on how to set up a successfull guild. When we just started up this guild, and when it was very fresh and young, people started to join us quick. We had to remove a couple of players due to not representing the guild and never responding to whispers, unfortunately. But that is the most important aspect of any kin, to be able to trust and rely on each other, listen to each other and respect each other, not so much the hardcore raiding or playing itself, but moreover the communication. Don't worry, we will play lots of dungeons and kill lots of stuff alongside with you, while exploring new area's within Guild Wars 2. We are just more of a casual / laid back family-like guild.
Q : Do you have any Calendar or Event Planner? :
A : Yes, we do. That is the short answer. We are using the forums for anything and everything, but we are more active in-game than on the forums. Ofcourse all the informatiion any guild member needs can be found on the forums, we still appreciate it if people are more active in-game than on the forums, although we appreciate forum activity a lot aswell. Events can be easily planned and comments can be easily made aswell on the forums and on our forum calendar. We feel if we just keep it easy, things will go a lot smoother. We are not very fond of complicated websites and lots of images and stuff. A forum is all that we need for our guild, and Invision are the best in our eyes, very easy to maintain and even more easy to install new stuff which we might be needing.
Q : How is your activity as a guild? :
A : We are very active as a whole, we're playing dungeons on a daily basis, PvE-ing and WvW-ing also on almost a daily basis, and we're organising Guild Events, both Social Events and other events such as dungeon runs. We also have 4 officers who help maintaining the guild and helping people where they can. With over 35 members right now we feel like we are halfway to our goal, which is about 75 members in total. After that, we will close down recruitment for a while to see if our desired number is right for the guild, if not, we will re-open recruitment again for new players to have a chance to join. But we're not there yet, and recruitment is fully open right now!
Joining Information
Q : What are you looking for in new players? :
A : First of all, we are looking for people who can respect others. This is the most important part in this guild, respect. Next, we are looking for active players, it's not as imporant as any of the other parts, but when you are active, we can get to know each other better. You do need to be friendly, not grumpy all the time, and ofcourse we're looking for mature players. Age does not matter, as long as you are mature, but we do aim to recruit players who are over 21 years old. Your trial in this guild could take a few weeks or up to months longer depending on how it goes and how active you are, and it can take as short as a few days. Most importantly, any level is welcome, we do not discriminate and tell people they need to be a certain level in order to be able to join us. Also, any race and profession is welcome.
Q : How does your recruitment process work? :
A : You will not have to fill out some template on our forums but it is optional and it will help you in getting accepted into the guild. You will remain a recruit untill we decide you can be a full member, this can take maybe two weeks, but also could take up to months. There is no set time for this process, since it will take longer if you aren't online that much, but if you are very active and helpfull, mature, friendly, and we see the potential, you might become a member faster. What does a member get what recruits do not get?
- We do not look different at recruits or members. Everyone is the same in this guild and whatever rank you are within the guild, everyone is equal and will be treaten the same as anyone else. Ofcourse some have more "power" than others, but that does not mean they can abuse that power. The only benefit that "regular guild members" have over "recruits", is that they have a higher rank and they are a full member, which means we have accepted you into the guild.
Why are we doing things like this? It's simple, because everyone is the same and everyone is equal, everyone is a human being with feelings, and we do not want to treat people different from each other.
Q : How can I apply for this guild? :
A : It's very easy, and it takes only seconds, minutes or however long you might want to. We do not care if you post a new topic with only the text "I want to join", but obviously you will not get accepted like this. You can use this template, although it's not required, but it is recommended, in order to leave your signature for us. We will review your application, investigate if and where needed, and contact you again in your own application topic. Simply make your topic and keep an eye on it if you wish to know if you got accepted or not. You don't want to register an account and make a new topic? No problem, contact us in-game, below are our details. But beware, we love it when people are also active on our forums, so you will have a better chance if you apply using the template provided, and be detailed in your answers. And we will still require people to register an account and post an introduction before they will be accepted into the guild.
You can make your application in this forum.
